ChillFactore Manchester


Chill Factore is one of the North West's leading leisure destinations. Based at Manchester's Trafford Park, it is the perfect snow fun destination for families looking for a great day out. We were briefed to design and build the attraction's new responsive website and booking engine front-end.

Chill Factore offers slope time, snow-based fun and everything in between, including a snow park, climbing wall, restaurants and retail outlets. A critical aspect of the attraction's brief was to deliver a simple intuitive user journey through what can appear to be a complex range of options, at the end of which is a user-friendly front-end to the Chill Factore booking engine.

ChillFactore Website Running on Mobile PhonesMy Role in the development of the site was Digital Project Manager and Development Team Leader and in the design and build phase was to work closely with the client and stakeholders as well as the design team to produce wireframes for the front-end user interface.

Once the wireframes were signed off the design team created a user experience that feeds off the colourful, fun Chill Factore brand, and fulfils the brief to make navigating the extensive range of leisure options simple and enjoyable.

I worked closely with the client marketing team and led the development of the responsive build created using the Umbraco 8 content management system allowing the client to update the main content of the site whenever they required. In addition, the booking system required a front-end building in HTML/CSS and integration into the Umbraco build. 

The site code was fully technical SEO compatible so that Google and other search engines would be able to properly crawl the site structure and content. 

My team continued to maintain the site and further developments for a few years. I was also involved in the training material and face-to-face workshops for the editors.

The new site had a highly successful launch and gained lots of positive feedback from users.
