The secret to Local SEO…
It’s all about “Consistency.” For example, Google looks at your Name, Address, and Phone number (NAP) across the entire web. If your website says one thing, but your Facebook page or an old page or site says another, Google gets confused. And in the world of SEO, confusion equals lower rankings.
Take ten minutes today to check your “Google Business Profile.” Is it optimised? Do you have fresh photos? Are you responding to reviews? This profile is often the first thing a local customer sees, even before they click on your website. Treat it like your digital shop window. And it’s also a place that Google trusts as a point of information.
Another tip: stop “Keyword Stuffing.”
Writing a paragraph that includes “We provide SEO York”, “York SEO services” and “SEO in York” makes you look like a robot and doesn’t just annoy your readers, Google is smart enough now to understand context and gets annoyed with it to… Write for humans, make it relevant and make sure your “Title Tags” are descriptive and clear.
Check your “Internal Linking.” Your most important service pages shouldn’t be buried three clicks deep. Link to them from your homepage and your blog posts. This tells Google: “Hey, this page is important!” the further down in cliocks a page is, the less important Google thinks it is.
Finally, look at your “Snippet” the bit of text that shows up in Google search results. Is it enticing, or at least more enticing than your competitors? Does it have a call to action? You can have the best site in the world, but if your Google snippet looks boring, you get less clicks. Make it punchy and tell the searcher exactly why they should click that link to you.
